Floating vacation homes in Bergwitzsee Resort

Lake Bergwitz

As early as the 1960s, an idyllic mining lake was created from the former open pit mine "Robert's Hope".

South of Lutherstadt Wittenberg on the edge of the Dübener Heide lies the Bergwitzsee. On about 180 hectares of water, sailors, surfers, stand-up paddlers and many bathers cavort here.

Lake Bergwitz has its origins in the open pit mine "Robert's Hope". In 1908, work began to develop the open-pit lignite mine and in 1916, Germany's first bucket-wheel excavator went into operation here. Twenty years later, the company was named Germany's most modern. In 1955, the mine closed. Flooding created Lake Bergwitz. Today, seven springs feed the lake with clear water and guarantee excellent water quality.

Since 1963, there has been a campground directly on Bergwitzsee. The Bergwitzsee Resort has modern facilities and its own boat rental. A special highlight are the floating vacation homes.

At Lake Bergwitz, various beaches invite you to sunbathe - so there is the right bathing spot for everyone! On the north shore is a textile bathing beach with beach volleyball, nature playground, WC, snack bar and barrier-free beach access. Another textile beach is on the eastern shore of the lake. Nudist beaches are located on the southeastern shore and on the peninsula in the south of Lake Bergwitz. Visitors with dogs are best off at the dog bathing beach on the northeast shore and a lake access for horses is on the southeast shore.
