Lake Zschornewitz

Lake Zschornewitz, popularly known as "Gurke" due to its shape, is located south of Zschornewitz. The lake was created from the former Golpa II open-cast mine, which was filled with water in the early 1970s. From 1975, the Zschornewitz rowing center, which is now a state rowing training center, was built on the lake. Surrounded by beautiful, unspoilt beaches and overgrown sunbathing areas with wonderfully clear water, it is nestled in a densely wooded landscape and offers ideal leisure and recreational opportunities. Lake Zschornewitz is the starting point for cycling and hiking tours. There are plenty of parking spaces available.
