Lippendorf power plant
In the information center of the modern coal-fired power plant, interested guests can learn more about power generation.
The communication center at the Lippendorf lignite-fired power plant was opened on May 23, 2001. It illustrates the power plant and the technology of lignite-fired power generation as well as energy supply in general. In recent years, VEAG has welcomed visitors from around 70 countries, from China to Australia, to its power plant.
As a central model in the 320-square-meter exhibition hall, a multimedia information system awaits visitors in the middle of the room. On a model table the region Leipzig and south area Leipzig is represented here faithfully in the scale 1:12500. In addition to the Lippendorf power plant, prominent buildings such as the Monument to the Battle of the Nations or the Leipzig Trade Fair Center have been produced as stylized Plexiglas models. The power lines are shown in the form of running lights.
In addition, there is the opportunity to visit the power plant itself on a guided tour. One of the most modern coal-fired power plants in Europe lets you look behind the scenes. Wander through the halls, visit the individual work stations and enjoy a unique view over the Leipzig Neuseenland from the boiler house (163 m high) of the power plant.
