New Harth
Post-mining forest and lake landscape in the Leipzig Neuseenland.
The "Harth" was a popular and legendary excursion area for the people of Leipzig until the 1950s. From 1960, the entire forest area was over-excavated by open-cast mining. After the open pit was closed down, the area was reforested. The "Neue Harth" now offers many recreational opportunities. In particular, cyclists and hikers get their money's worth on the various trails.
