Book village Mühlbeck-Friedersdorf
In the book village of Mühlbeck-Friedersdorf you will find antiquarian bookstores offering more than a quarter of a million books to the visitor, reader or collector.
On the western edge of the Düben Heath, not far from the Goitzsche, the two neighboring villages of Friedersdorf and Mühlbeck joined forces in 1997 to found Germany's first book village. The world's first book village in Hay-on-Wye, Wales, serves as the model for this accumulation of printed matter.
There are hundreds of books for every inhabitant of the two villages. That might be a lonely record in Germany. The antiquarian bookshops offer collectors and book lovers everything imaginable that has ever been printed on paper: Novels, reference books, non-fiction, postcards or curiosities. Inexpensive paperbacks can be discovered here as well as valuable rarities. Some of the antiquarian bookstores have specialized, for example, in science or literature for the hobby.
