Lake Grabschütz
A lake reserved for nature conservation with a nature trail about 7 kilometers long.
Leipzig's surrounding countryside has been strongly shaped by man. Vast fields and open-cast mining pits hardly give an idea of what nature looked like here before the start of lignite mining. South of the town of Delitzsch, the open pit mine Delitzsch-Südwest was opened up. Today, the nature trail at the Grabschützer See lake is about 7 km long and provides interesting information about this sensitive and protected natural area, the origin of lignite, its mining and the future development of the post-mining landscape. The nature trail leads along a circular route past 17 thematic stations with active employment opportunities at erratic blocks and rubble ribs.
