The Red Tower, built in the 13th century, is 30 meters high. You can reach the viewing platform via 105 steps. From here, the visitor has a far-reaching view over the Goitzsche landscape park, the village of Pouch with the Muldestausee lake and the Dübener Heath in the background. With clear view one recognizes even the Völkerschlachtdenkmal and the university of Leipzig as well as the Petersberg with resounds.

Already from a distance, the Red Tower points the way to the adjacent Pouch Castle. Only some wall remainders let guess that here in the 10-th century around a castle plant stood. It lost its former military significance and was gradually transformed into a residential castle.
The current castle building dates back to the 18th century and was owned by Count Solms until the land reform in 1945 and served as a retirement and nursing home until 1995. The Expo exhibition "Land gewinnen" had revived the walls in the meantime. Since then, they have been exposed to decay and destruction.
